One way to understand how this operation works is to imagine the view as a cube. In this case, when applying the slice, we are slicing a piece of the cube to focus on a specific set of information.

And, in conjunction with it, it's possible to apply dice, which allows you to apply filters to multiple dimensions at the same time, creating an even more specific slice of the data.

Performing a slice

On a sales portal, one chart displays net revenue by category, while the other charts present information related to those categories:

By adding a filter, applying the slice, the data displayed on the portal will only correspond to the selected category:

On the same portal, there is also a graph showing the proportion of net revenue by territory. If, after applying the slice , we add a second filter to select a specific territory, we are applying the dice . In this case, the information displayed on the portal will simultaneously reflect the chosen category and territory.
